We are beyond excited to announce that we are in the process of planning the 2021 Lake Michigan Technology Conference!
While we were extremely disappointed that the 2020 annual conference was cancelled, we officially are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel and are extremely hopeful that we will be able to host everyone back face to face in August 2021.
While we know that this pandemic has been around a lot longer than any of us hoped for or likely anticipated, given the development of multiple vaccines and positive signs in our region of the country that we are getting this virus under control, we are hopeful to be able to host our event face to face. In order to do this, we will adhere to all guidance from the CDC, state, and local health departments. If indoor public gatherings are limited, we will not host the event. If we feel that we are unable to host the event before most of the area schools let out, we will not host the event. The final say would go to the local district that is hosting this year’s event. We do not and will not have a contingency plan to move this event to virtual. We are face to face or bust!
Last year, we had the topic of Professional Learning Communities and how technology can support answering Drs. DuFour’s four questions. Knowing that many area schools are working on implementing and continuing PLCs, we are beyond excited to continue that investigation and offer that strand. We will also be offering a strand focused on Google tools, as well as some basic technology crash course style sessions.
We are launching our call for speakers today as well. We will re-invite those accepted from last year’s event, but we are also welcoming sessions from other speakers that are interested in participating in this year’s event.
